5.Pragmatic and flexible...

The problem with new IT tools is… that they are new. You usually have to wait until release 2 or 3 to be out of the “infancy” problems like bugs or inadequate functionalities. FAIR-M&A POP is solving this issue by taking advantage of experienced software, most of them in their releases 6 or 7. They work because they have gone through a thousand deals already.

FAIR-M&A POP is taking a very pragmatic approach to the development of an IT platform for M&A transactions. If a family of IT tools already exists for the functionalities we want to cover, then we don’t reinvent the wheel. We compare the existing tools inside a given family, we take the best of them and we incorporate it in our platform.

This means FAIR-M&A POP doesn’t need years of complex and costly IT development to get started. In fact, most of it already exists in the form of IBM’s M&A Accelerator solution configured with the basic FAIR-M&A standards (like FAIR-M&A Standard Information Structure – SIS - an operational segmentation of M&A information).

FAIR-M&A POP grows by adding modules to the backbone which is IBM’s M&A Accelerator. The first module is a standard electronic data room developed with IMPRIMA (FAIR-M&A iRooms). The second module is FAIR-M&A SDG (Standard Document Generator). Next modules will include DIGIMIND’s competitive intelligence solution.

Flexibility is the key word in M&A because each transaction has specific aspects, each M&A professional has specific needs. FAIR-M&A POP has built-in flexibility because it is developed as a toolbox in a pragmatic and modular approach.
